Looking at the bright side of life (through pink glasses)

2021 - 22

Usually said about a person who sees everything on a positive light, Žiūri pro rožinius akinius (Looking through pink glasses) is a Lithuanian expression and is the starting point for the performative action. In a place like Kaunas, where, in August of 2021, the streets were undergoing complete renovation and reconstruction, debris, remains and raw materials inhabited the city in a reinvention of its urban landscape. In the same way, there was also a change in the way the inhabitants interacted with their daily lives. Earth, cement, gravel, wood and various tubes can be seen, and in the midst of this amalgamation, mixture of remains, the performer emerges invading the uncertain and chaotic terrain. He carries a tableau with him to see his surroundings: a window with pink glasses. It is a frame, a means of access to a living, pink world, to a place where effectively everything seems to gain a positive side, even what at first sight would create discomfort and embarrassment in the daily life of a City.
