Assombros

2018

With the body wrapped by robes; with his head covered, his face capped. Ghosts, specters, ritualistic figures, or denial? – Is the figure absent or present? And who are these figures? Where are they and what role do they play?

With this series of works I intend to address issues related to identity, fragmentation and multiplicity where references and symbolisms from art history and everyday life are combined in the creation of an enigmatic and mysterious work ….

The collection of a set of videos and photographs serve as a way of recording and documenting a series of performative events, inserted in small non-linear narratives. These events serve as a bridge, as a means to the materialization and appearance of this work, functioning as a vestige and record of an event / action that is not presented to us and to which the viewer does not have access. The work is constantly changing, oscillating, between the real and the fictitious, between certain and the uncertain in the representation of the figure, the spectrum, the body that appears to cover and simulate. Their identity remains hidden, enigmatic and intriguing.

The answers to the questions posed are kept hidden, out of the viewer’s view and reach. He can only guess or question himself, drawing his own conclusions.
