Carry(-)On Tree
2020-21
Carry(-)On Tree is a performative act that focuses on the traces of walking, rather than movements of the actions themselves. After the holiday season, the presence of abandoned trees around the rubbish bins is a significant landmark of the Prague landscape. These trees, cut for use during the festive season and devoid of their function, were the object of this urban expedition: at first, for the appropriation of a tree and its adulteration, through the aggregation of a backpack that would allow it to be carried on its back; in a second moment, by juxtaposing the trajectory of its transport with the trajectories of the city. Transform the tree into a transport tree - a Carry-on Tree: this was the intention that activated the movement around the city until a new place for it's plantation was found, coinciding with the performer's resting moment.
