Dog Collar Walk
2020-21
Developed during the artist’s residency in Prague in the winter semester of 2019/20, Dog Collar Walk consists of a performative action that has its origin in a poorly and mistranslated reading of a phrase from the play The Garden Party, by Czech writer Václav Havel. The action involves the walking of a dog on the street. But in Dog Collar Walk there is no dog, or there is as a phantom identity. What ends up being seen by the spectator is the performer holding an empty red collar and leash walking the streets of Prague, like a reserve where desired images can be projected. The action comes in direct relation to the daily narratives and events of the city and the observations and research made by the performer as a stranger and foreigner in a new environment.
